How experienced are you with React?

I’ve been working as a React developer for over five years now.

What do you mean by “React Designer”?

Basically I’m a React Developer who can also design user interfaces. When you subscribe to Atom Lab Studio, you can request both design and development tasks. This saves you having to separately hire a designer and developer for your project.

How long do requests take?

I aim to complete most requests within 2-3 working days (Monday to Friday) - but of course the exact timescales can vary depending on how complex the task is. As a rule, design is generally easier to predict - development tasks can vary more.

If you add a task that seems overly complex and likely to hog the board for a while, I’ll break it down into smaller tasks so that it’s easier to keep track of what’s going on, and you get some milestones you can give feedback on.

How many requests can I add?

Nope! Just add as many as you’d like - I’ll pick them up one by one, in priority order (the highest tasks being the highest priority).

What does “unlimited” mean?

Unlimited, in this context, means that there’s no estimating or hourly rates to worry about - simply add as many tasks as you’d like to your queue and I’ll work through them one by one.

There’s a limit of one active task at a time - once I’ve sent a task for review, I’ll pick up the next one in the queue and work on that until I receive your feedback.

Can I pause or cancel my subscription?

You can cancel or pause your subscription via the Breeew dashboard at any time.

If you pause your subscription, your remaining days in that billing cycle will remain banked, for you to unpause and use at any time. Once you unpause, I’ll continue where we left off and work on your tasks in order - your subscription will then renew as normal once the banked days have elapsed.

If you cancel your subscription, I will work through your tasks for the remainder of your current billing cycle. Once your subscription lapses, you can reactivate it at any time - but you might not be able to resubscribe at the original price if the price has changed in the interim.

What software is used to manage requests?

I use a platform called Breeew to manage client requests. It’s very similar to Kanban apps such as Trello. This is where you’ll manage your requests.

You can start adding new tasks as soon as your subscription has begun.

Shouldn't I just hire a dedicated React developer?*

The fact is, hiring a developer comes with significant overhead and logistical cost. In some instances it can be the right decision, but I believe that for many businesses my service is a great option - as it can be paused or cancelled as required.

What other technologies do you use apart from React?

I also work with React Native/Expo and NextJS.

Do you offer backend development?

Although it’s not my primary skill (I’m more of a frontend guy) I’m happy to help where I can using NodeJS. For most clients I’ll usually recommend going with a backend as a service (such as Firebase or Supabase) or using serverless functions.

What about web hosting?

It’s not technically part of your plan, but if your site is a simple static site and doesn’t serve heavy assets such as large videos, I can host this for you. However, I recommend as a general rule that you should setup your own hosting so that you maintain control (I’m happy to make some suggestions if you’re not sure!).

Can I add you to an existing project?

Of course! It might take me a little bit longer than normal for the first couple of tasks, as I’ll need to get to know your codebase.

If you do add a ticket for a project I’ve not worked on before, please ensure you give me access to the repository so I can start to contribute straight away.

What program do you use to design?

I use Figma for all my design work.

What software do you use for version control?*

I use Github - but I’m happy to work with whatever provider you use.

Who will I be working with?*

You’ll only be working with me! I’ve been working with React for over five years and have been a professional developer for over a decade. I never subcontract work - you’ll only ever be working directly with me.

Does the package include monthly meetings?

I prefer asynchronous communication where possible - this allows me to work faster and coordinate more easily with clients in different parts of the world.

However I understand the need for face to face communication sometimes - so I will always try to accommodate where possible. Just send me an email and we can arrange a time.

Do you offer refunds?

There’s a significant time commitment involved in providing this service, so I’m unable to offer refunds. However I understand it can be daunting to spend a significant amount on a service without having used it - that’s why I offer 50% off your first month so you can try it out.

What CSS framework do you use?

I prefer to use Tailwind CSS where I can as that’s my go to framework. But if you already have a different framework that you need to use, or would prefer no to use one then I’m happy to accomodate.

Do you take holidays?

If I need to take some time off then I will add days to your subscription for the time that I’m away - so if your due to be billed on the 15th of the month, and I take a week off, your billing date will be moved to the 22nd without any extra charge - so you won’t be out of pocket.

I also try and give plenty of advance notice when I take time off so that we can plan your tasks accordingly.
